What is a Real Estate Agent?

Real estate agents help clients that are looking to buy or sell a property. They typically work for real estate brokerages and are responsible for listing and showing properties, negotiating deals, and helping clients through the legal and financial aspects of real estate transactions.

Why is this term important?

Real estate agents are important as they help guide clients through an otherwise overwhelming and difficult process to buy or sell a property.  As real estate professionals, agents have a detailed knowledge of local market conditions, including property values, availability, and trends. This knowledge can be invaluable to buyers and sellers, helping them to make informed decisions.

With a wide network of contacts in the industry, including other agents, home inspectors, conveyance lawyers, and more, real estate agents can also make it easier for buyers and sellers to find the right professionals to help with all aspects of their transactions.

Here is an example:

When someone decides they’re ready to begin exploring buying a home, one of their first steps will be to speak with a real estate agent about the types of properties they are interested in and their home-buying budget. The real estate agent will help them refine their search, view properties, make offers, and eventually close on the property.
